The Wheatley’s Country Home & Cottage is a vacation rental property located on the idyllic Galiano Island in the Southern Gulf Islands of British Columbia, Canada. Less than one hour by ferry from the Vancouver Mainland, Galiano Island is the first stop.

The Country Home and Cottage are situated on nearly 2 acres of land. Nestled amidst the lush coastal forest and surrounding crown land, the property includes a wide range of activities to keep you busy. There is the great lawn that can be host to a game of croquet, soccer or badminton or the garden’s fruit trees bursting with apples or the herbs just waiting to be trimmed and added to dinner! Wandering up the hill, you can follow many trails into the woodlands or maybe just stop and have a play at the treehouse. The new addition of the Playhouse has been a huge hit with its miniature Adirondack chairs for the wee ones. The Playhouse is only steps away from the Country Home, so the adults can still hear the giggles and imaginations running wild while relaxing on the back deck or preparing the evening’s meal.

The property is conveniently located close to Sturdies Bay ferry dock, the bakery, spa, quaint shops, market and beaches. It’s all just steps away! Rent a kayak and paddle the bay or choose to cycle or drive the island to discover Galiano’s numerous artist’s studios or beaches.

Swimming, fishing and beachcombing are just a few of the countless pastimes to enjoy at the local beaches. Golf, cycling, boat charters, tennis and hiking are some of the other activities that await you on Galiano. Or maybe, just some well deserved, relaxation time!

The Country Home

The Country Home

This charming, heritage style home is your ideal retreat for comfort and tranquility. It features many large windows allowing for bright, natural light throughout the home. There are 4 bedrooms, allowing up to 10 guests to sleep comfortably, with the top room being the unique enclosed gazebo with a near 360degree view. Two full bathrooms with a cedar sauna, a fully equipped kitchen, a family sized dining room, a living room with couches to relax in as well as a wood burning fireplace, tv/dvd/stereo system and full laundry.

Outside is a spacious, old fashioned porch complete with wicker furniture, hammock chair and a view of Whaler Bay and the surrounding woodlands.  There is also a south facing deck, ideal for afternoons of relaxation and your evening barbeques.

The Cottage

The Cottage

The Cottage can be rented separately or in addition to the Country Home, depending on the size of the group. The cozy cottage is an ideal option for singles or a family of three or four. The accommodation includes an open plan loft with a queen bed and skylights overhead- perfect for evening stargazing!

On the main floor is a reclaimed porch featuring wide planked wood floors and large window, with a  bunk bed and pull out couch. Further amenities include a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, living room with wood burning fireplace, tv/dvd/stereo system, full bathroom, washer and dryer.
